Happy to New Year to all our readers! I hope you had a good rest and now springing into 2011!
Apparently it’s not going to be an easy year, which is why we have come up with the top 5 New Year resolutions to help make your recruitment as simple and cost effective as possible for 2011.
1. Review Last Years Recruitment Spend: What advertising and talent attraction strategies worked and what did not? What was your average cost per hire? Could you reduce this further? Are there too many people making spending decisions? could some of your costs be centralised? Could you reduce the amount spent on advertising or recruitment agencies?
2. Analyse Your Recruitment Processes: Could you make it more effective? Who is involved in the process? Could you speed up the process? How do applicants feel about the process? Does everyone in the company know what the process is?
3. Research / Review Your Social Recruitment Activity: If you have not started using online social networking for recruitment, then consider & review sites like Twitter, LinkedIn and even Facebook to help network and build your employer brand. If you have used these sites last year, how effective were they? Is there further training, processes, technology or analysis that would help you to improve the results?
4. Improve / Design a Careers Site: If you haven’t got a careers site, then maybe this year is the year to develop one. Why? Find out here. If you do have one, could you improve it? Are you maximising optimisation on search engines? Is the page easy to find? Does it link into all your other career promotion activity? What does it say about your company and brand?
5. Get an Applicant Tracking System: Automate, automate, automate! If you are still getting CV’s into your inbox, clunk along with disjointed processes or a lack useful Management Information, then consider what your options are. So much time and money can be saved by simply investing in some recruitment software. There are even free systems out there!
I hope that this has inspired you to consider your strategy for 2011, feel free to connect or ask me about our free health checks in 2011!

Probably a little late in the year to be thinking about New Years resolutions but your blog has inspired me! My new years resolution is to use Recruitment software to automate our mundane tasks, freeing us up for more things!
We are also hoping to get involved in social media later on in the year. We have heard of the wonders it can do for businesses!
